Every sect has a faith, a Qibla to which they turn.
I have turned my face toward the crooked cap of Nizamuddin Aulia.
The whole world worships something or other.
Some look for God in Mecca, while others go to Varanasi,
So why can’t I, O wise people, fall upon my beloved’s feet?

Spreuken zegt:
“Behoed uw hart boven al wat te bewaren is, want daaruit zijn de uitgangen des levens.” (Spreuken 4:23)
Jezus zegt:
“Zalig de reinen van hart, want zij zullen God zien.” (Mattheüs 5:8)
Wat mij treft is dat Khusrow niet spreekt over een andere God, maar over een andere richting van het hart.
Iedereen heeft een qibla, een richting waarheen hij zich wendt. Voor Khusrow is zijn geliefde meester, Nizamuddin Aulia, een venster waardoor het Goddelijke zichtbaar wordt.
Misschien zag Khusrow niet een andere wereld.
Misschien zag hij deze wereld met een hart dat wist waarheen het zich moest wenden.
