Guest room : Cantico a Dio

The following prayer-poem or canticle was written by Malika Enrica Fontana during the recent retreat in Barcelona, which focused on prayer. The original, in Italian, is followed by English and Spanish versions.

Sei Amore
Sei fratello Sole e sorella Luna.

You are Love
And I need a thousand pardons to know it.
A big wall to knock down, to undress me of me, to break the hard earth, to plant again the seed and water it.
I am thirsty for You and I don’t know it.
You are this Light that floods me and this Warmth that heats me today.
You are the earth that sustains me and this light breath that enfolds me.
You are the one that I love, and the love I feel. That little animal kingdom that is joy to awaken.
You are that square of earth that is all the forests of the world.
You are the water of the sea in which to submerge.
You are brother Sun and sister Moon.
You are the people who suffer, that I still do not know what to do, between their pain and my good fortune.
You are the life that lives, the smiles that bloom, the flowers that sprout, the grass that finally grows back.
You are the clarity when it lights up in me and brings new strength.
Help me feel this love for you.
Help me, this I pray you, to open a chink towards the Light that you are.
Never stop showing me the way, show me how to lower my head, how to lower my guard, how to surrender to you, how to truly believe it.
Teach me those forgotten gestures of gratitude and sincere humility of that woman yesterday on the street.
You are Love and long is the way back home, and partly forgotten and hidden.
Maybe I just started, or maybe I have done a little bit.
But wherever I am, you, keep me with you.

Eres Amor
