Nuruddin Rishi : Alone

These heartfelt words of longing for the Beloved are by the 14th century Kashmiri saint and poet Nuruddin Rishi. For more about him, see this post.

Alone am I –
I long to be with my Friend.
Every moment I want to be with Him.
Without my Friend,
     flowers turn into thorns.
Wherever my Friend is,
     there is my Mecca.

Dear Nawab, thank you for this translated poem, beautiful. I add one sentence here for mezelf, as I am trying to learn to be conscious of Him even in uneasy moments.
