This week came the sad news that Sufi Noor Alaam Sahib, familiar to many visitors to the Dargah Sufi Inayat, has passed away. Although not of advanced age, he had been coping with various health issues, and finally succumbed to a cerebral hemorrhage in a hospital in Lucknow.
Dr. Farida Ali, trustee of the Hazrat Inayat Khan Memorial Trust, writes : He was born in a Nawabi family of Jaunpur, a medieval princely state near Varanasi, Allahabad and Lucknow.
He was a Khalifa in the Sultani Silsilah of Rampur, under the guidance of Pir Jameel Mia Sahib and in the Nizami Silislah under Imam Sahib, Hazrat Islamuddin Nizami. He had established his Khanqah in the Jaunpur area around 2018 where annual celebrations of his brother’s Urs drew many mureeds from all over India.
He came to Hazrat Inayat Khan at my invitation as I had noticed his diligence and honesty in Sufi service at our Pir’s hujra in the Dargah of Hazrat Nizamuddin.
He was dearly loved by the followers of this place.
Sufi Sahib will be deeply missed – may his spirit travel in peace to the Eternal Home!

Sad news. He will be remembered by all Sufi visitors to the Dargah.
Gracias, querida Arifa. Amin, amin!
Sufi Sahib was part of the wonderful spirit of the Dargah and will be deeply missed. Thinking of him this quote from from Gayan Chalas comes to mind: “True spirituality …..is the ennobling of the soul by rising above the barriers of material life.’
Wishing peace to all those who continue in the spirit of the Dargah of Hazrat Sufi Pir O Murshid Inayat Khan.
Amin, dear Zubin, Amin
