Tales : The Manifestation of Lord Rama

It happened long ago, when Lord Rama was fighting the demon king Ravanna to recover his beloved Sita from captivity, that his army of monkeys was in a terrible battle with the army of rakshasa or demons. The monkeys were valiant, but the rakshasas were overwhelming them with their cruel lust for blood, and there was real danger that the battle would be lost.

Then Lord Rama felt he must come to the aid of his loyal army, and decided to manifest upon the battle field. But so great was his power that he did not appear there as a single figure, but every being there took on his form.

Then the monkeys looked at each other and were overjoyed – Lord Rama stood beside them and all around them! – and they laughed and embraced and were filled with courage and hope.

The Rakshasas, though, looked at each other and perceived their enemy in every demon, and began to attack each other furiously, until the entire army of demons was destroyed by their own hands.
