The great mystic Rabbi Baal Shem Tov was once walking with some students when they came upon a terrible accident – a carriage had overturned, and a number of people were seriously hurt, injured horses were screaming in pain and fear, and two young children were crushed. The cries of pain and of sorrow were heart-breaking.
The Baal Shem Tov looked at this scene with tears in his eyes,, and after a moment said, “Ah! If only i were God…!”
One of the students, shocked, said, “Master! Do you mean you would undo this accident? Does it mean that you think that God has made a mistake?”
The rabbi shook his head. “How could the All-Knowing, the Source of all Wisdom make a mistake? But if I were God, I could understand why this has happened.”
Comprender, que gran virtud!, un trabajo de todos los días, de toda la vida…
