By the kind help of Anahita and Miut Studios in Barcelona, here is a tale which is both a glimpse of the life of Hazrat Inayat, and a precious gem of wisdom from which we can all learn something.
Dear Sharifa,
No one can tell you what is to be wanted; only one’s heart can answer. Hazrat Inayat’s reply to the child was necessarily brief and simple, but perhaps one way to understand it is this: it is difficult to reach one’s goal if the goal is not clear. As Jesus said, ‘No man can serve two masters.’ Or as the Sufi poets have said, ‘The heart is a cup with room for only one…’ But no one can tell another what she or he should keep in that cup. Each one must discover that themselves.
Sending loving greetings,
Nawab
Dear Murshid,
The audio left me with a question: what is to be wanted? Not anything. Not everything.
Sharifa
