Dear friends of the Inner Call, last night word came of the passing on of Aziza Lusansky-Inayat-Khan. It was certainly expected, for she was close to 96 years of age, and after the passing of her dear husband Hidayat, she only wanted to go and join him. Nevertheless, she was a part of our lives for so long, and through many very intense moments, and her passing leaves a deep tenderness. May she find peace and happiness now in the loving arms of the One.
Below are links to the announcement and a brief memorial sent by Ulma and Joop Moerenburg. Any messages or reactions can be sent to the Sufi Museum, sufihq@xs4all.nl
Yesterday, I pulled a photo of her and Murshid Hidayat not knowing she was on her journey to the One. Thank you for your love and tenderness during the retreats at Lake O’Hara and Holland.

Oh… dear Aziza, how wonderful that you will now be free of the limitations of the body! We send our prayers to help you fly, while we fondly remember your many years of faithful birthday cards and chocolates and your kind tenderness to our children, your loving care and companionship for Murshid Hidayat and your commitment to the Sufi Message. Your faith and love will continue to inspire us always. Farewell to you dear Amma, Aziza.

Aziza gave us a beautiful lesson, when we first met Hidayat. We went to meet them, taking a bunch of yellow roses, which Hidayat immediately gave to Aziza. We had not thought to remove the thorns. Aziza immediately took them into Zubin’s kitchen and proceeded to remove the thorns with her bare fingers, breaking each one off lovingly – a valuable lesson to remove the thorns from the fragrance and the beauty.
Aziza was there in so many ways, for us and for our children, in her gifts and cards, so thoughtful and always so kind. She always looked to see who may be feeling left out and included them so lovingly. Such gentleness.
Much love Bhakti and Karim
