Chiao Jan was a Chinese Buddhist monk of the Tang era, and perhaps wrote this in his later years. ‘Eastmount’ would refer to the peak of the east, representing the direction of illumination.
Not yet to the shore of nondoing,
it’s silly to be sad you’re not moored yet…
Eastmount’s white clouds say
to keep on moving, even
if it’s evening, even if it’s fall.
