As we reported last month, the Dargah of Hazrat Inayat Khan in New Delhi, along with extensive parts of the neighbouring Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin, suffered serious flooding after an exceptional rain storm. Now there has been a preliminary survey of the damage, and we are faced with a long list of necessary repairs. The to-do list includes :
• replacing all affected wiring
• repairing all water meters
• raising the generator and creating a new structure to house it
• fixing leaking roofs
• repairing water damaged wooden floors
• de-silting micro-injection wells in the lower court
• repairing the garden
• draining water from the new paving outside the Dargah
Estimates for this work are still being gathered, but the cost could be in the region of €5,000 and might easily rise higher as we uncover more damage.
