Dargah Retreat in October

Sometimes people wonder why Sufis seem to place such importance upon the graves of saints.  There is, of course, a custom all over the world to regard any grave with respect, but the Sufi feels that the ‘friends of God’ do not die–their spirit lives on, and may often be felt more clearly around the resting place of the physical remains.  Therefore when a devotee in India touches the foot of the grave of a saint, it is a genuine greeting, offered in the same way that one would touch the feet of one’s parents or grandparents with love and respect.

Every moment of life is an opportunity,
and the greatest opportunity
is to know the value of opportunity.

There is no belief that one ‘must’ visit one Dargah or another; each person’s path is their own.  But it is also true that sometimes one feels called to make a special pilgrimage.  For those who might feel such a call, the retreat to be offered next October in the Dargah of Hazrat Inayat Khan might be an opportunity.  The dates are October 18-25.  For more details, please consult this link:  18 Dargah Retreat English flyer
