The following sayings of Hazrat Inayat Khan were collected by his English mureed Nargis Jessie Dowland, and appeared in a small booklet that was marked ‘for private circulation’, issued in 1953, the last year of her life. It is not clear if the sayings were given together, or if Nargis grouped them according to her editorial insight.

GOD is within you. You are His Instrument and through you He expresses Himself to the external world.

Man’s greatest privilege is to become a suitable instrument of GOD.

It is GOD, Who, by the hand of man, designs and carries out His intended plan in Nature.

The wise man, by studying Nature, enters into unity through its variety, and realises the Personality of GOD by sacrificing his own.

If you believe in no God, worship Nature.
