At the Dargah of Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan in New Delhi, work has been going forward on a number of changes, including a very beautiful maqaam* in honour of Hazrat Inayat’s Murshid, Pir-o-Murshid Madani. There are still some architectural details to finish, but readers may sense from the pictures below the joy and peace that radiate from this place. Regrettably the grave of Pir-o-Murshid Madani in Hyderabad has been encroached upon and is difficult to visit, so this new development is meant to give devotees a suitable space to offer their greetings and gratitude to Murshid’s Murshid.
*Maqaam means ‘place’ or ‘territory,’, and can be applied widely, referring for example to a grave, or even to a person’s stage of spiritual evolution. In this case, the Maqaam of Pir-o-Murshid Madani contains symbolic items brought from Hyderabad and re-consecrated here, so one may feel that one is visiting the grave itself.
A beautiful addition to the dargah
