Tales : A beloved is always hidden

Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya is known as “Mahbub-e-Ilahi”, beloved of God. There are many lovers of God but there are only two Sufis known as Mahbub-e-Ilahi. They are Shaikh ‘Abdul-Qadir Jilani and Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya.

There was a man who doubted that Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya was a Mahbub-e-Ilahi. Then he had a dream in which he saw all the great Sufis sitting in the company of the Prophet Muhammad, may peace be upon him. In that company, only Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya was not there, so in the dream the man felt confirmed in his ideas.

He then saw a curtain behind the Prophet. When it was opened he saw Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya sitting there. Upon asking for an explanation he was told: “A beloved is always kept hidden”.
