Dargah Damage Update

Dear friends, at the end of May we posted news about the damage caused by a violent storm to the Dargah of Hazrat Inayat Khan in New Delhi, and in Mid-June we gave details about how it is possible to send donations. The video below gives a glimpse of the present situation. The broken branches and the fallen palm tree have been cleared away, but if one looks closely one can see lost and broken tiles in a number of places that will need attention.

The video also shows, briefly, the new sanctuary that is being built to house sacred relics of Sheikh Abu Hashim Madani, the Murshid of Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan. This occupies, more or less, the footprint of the former ‘Dargah House,’ to one’s right as one enters the main gate. Without doubt when it is ready, it will add a very special note to the atmosphere of the Dargah.

Please note that your support is always welcome, as the needs of the Dargah do not end. The day on which the video was taken, a new emergency surfaced – termites were discovered in one of the rooms of the retreat house, and wooden beams will have to be quickly replaced with metal ones, to prevent the room above completely collapsing.
