Storm Damage at the Dargah

A sudden and very violent storm has damaged a number of trees at the Dargah of Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan. The videos below show that one of the palm trees in the lower courtyard has fallen, the tamarind near the entrance (presently in blossom with handsome red blooms) has lost large branches, and the keekar tree in the upper court, incorporated in the structure of the Dargah itself, has also been severely damaged. Fortunately, the dome over the Mazar has not been touched.

It is too early to know if the building structures have also been affected. The storm came in the midst of unusually hot conditions for New Delhi, with temperatures in the 40’s (•C).

    Beloved ones,
Today at noon time (EST) dr. Farida Ali sends me a reply on my iquiries. “Alhamdulillah. The dome is unscathed and other damages are not so major.” “Otherwise all is well inspite of continuing heat wave here.”

      Dear Murshid
Thank you for sharing the information. The message from dr Farida Ali brings a certain relief to the rather worrying videos.
      Allhamdulillah
We hope the heat weave will pass soon, may balance be restored for all

Dear Huma, thank you for the good thoughts. We will see what support might be needed. The Dargah has received very few visitors since the start fo the pandemic, and that has meant fewer donations. If it is necessary to raise funds, we will certainly post the news here.
