Lalleshwari, or Lal Ded, was a 14th c. Kashmiri mystic in the Shaivite tradition. She is still deeply loved by both Muslims and Hindus in that region. ‘Siddhanath’ is a name for the Divine Lord Shiva. For more about Lalleshwari, see this earlier post.
When Siddhanath applied lotion to my eyes,
the cataracts that covered them dissolved.
I saw an astonishing sight.
Wherever I looked and whatever I beheld,
I saw my own Self, I saw God.
Wherever I looked, I saw my own Self!
O Lalli! This is the true seeing.
