Muhyiddin ibn Arabi (1265 – 1340 CE) was born in Murcia, Spain, but his family traced its origins to Arabia, as recorded in his name. He was a prolific writer and philosopher of Sufism, and had a profound, long-lasting effect on thought both in the East and in the West. For more about him, please see this earlier post.
When my Beloved appears,
With what eye do I see Him?
With His eye, not with mine,
For none sees Him except Himself.
