Izumi Shikibu (974? – 1034? CE) is considered to be one of the foremost poets of the Heian period. Her life was full and varied: she was a member of the royal court, where she had a tumultuous love life, with two husbands, two princely lovers and a number of other paramours, but in her later life she devoted herself to Buddhism and wore only Buddhist robes.

no part left out.
